Celebrating a successful Fall 2022 Tool Kit Program

It’s been an exciting month…My Good Brain officially (and successfully!) completed our Fall 2022 Tool Kit program!

This Fall, our team packed and delivered over 170 tool kits! A big thank you to the schools below for joining us in helping students take care of their mental health and well-being through art and play 🎨

  • MLK JR Elementary

  • Blacow Elementary

  • Azevada Elementary School/ Wellness Center

  • Longwood Elementary

If you’re unfamiliar with the My Good Brain Tool Kit Program, it’s a box of guided resources and art supplies that students can use to learn about mental and emotional health through creative activities.

Our Tool Kits are meant for elementary and middle school students ages 5 to 13. You can learn more about the program here!

This year’s theme: Compassion

At My Good Brain, we aim to create more safe spaces for children to identify their emotions through self-expression and creativity. Encouraging students to practice compassion in their day-to-day routines is an important piece of this puzzle.

Compassion motivates us to take action when we’ve identified an emotion, both within ourselves and in the people around us. It empowers us to act with confidence, kindness, and self-awareness. Check out our blog on the importance of compassion too!

Our volunteers put together the toolkit to encourage these outcomes inside and outside the classroom:

  1. Vocalizing and practicing appreciation for the self and others

  2. Building awareness of physical, mental, and emotional needs

  3. Starting honest and judgment-free conversations about feelings

  4. Celebrating and embracing differences

  5. Uplifting and motivating others

The toolkit included activities to help children express things they may not have the chance to bring up in everyday conversations — like drawing out all the things they love about themselves!

We know that engaging in these conversations can be hard, so we were excited to share detailed prompts, materials, and resources to help children participate in these activities with their peers, family, or on their own time.

We’re so inspired every single day to hear how students are using and enjoying the activities we’ve prepared. My Good Brain is extremely excited to continue growing our Tool Kit program 🧠

Tool kit sign-ups are closed for the Fall 2022 - Spring 2023 semester, but if you’re interested, here are some other ways you can support us on this journey!
