That’s a Wrap! Winter 2023 Toolkit Program

Another successful season of the My Good Brain Toolkit program – a quarterly collection of art-based lessons and activities for kids!

Each quarter, the MGB team puts together a toolkit that explores a seasonal theme. The winter toolkit explored the theme of reflection and renewal through the topics of self-reflection (how we explore who we are and how we feel), self-love (how we show appreciation and kindness to ourselves), and goal setting (how we identify and take the steps towards something we want to achieve). Through exploration of these topics, students are supported in building and strengthening skills such as self-awareness, self-management and responsible decision making – all foundational to social-emotional health and well-being!

The winter toolkit was filled to the brim – including three lessons, three mindful reflection exercises, and six art activities! It emphasized the importance of taking inventory of the self in order to look ahead – a similar sentiment shared as we transition from winter, the season of rest and reflection, to spring, the season of growth and renewal.

More than 170 toolkits were delivered to students across the Bay Area in Oakland, Fremont, and Hayward. Wow! Quite an exciting delivery made possible by our generous donors:

  • FLAX Art & Design

  • Modern Parenting Solutions

  • 4imprint

  • BLICK Art Materials

  • Star One Credit Union

And a very big thank you to our schools who are committed to supporting students’ social-emotional health through art and play.

  • MLK JR Elementary

  • Blacow Elementary

  • Azevada Elementary School/ Wellness Center

  • Longwood Elementary

  • City of Oakland Parks & Rec.
